Tournaments – general rules

Please read these General Rules carefully. If you have any questions, please contact tournaments@casino.ca.

1. ABOUT

1.1 These General Rules set out the general terms and conditions that apply to Casino.ca Tournaments. By registering for Casino.ca Tournaments, you indicate your agreement to these General Rules. If you do not wish to be bound by these General Rules, please close your account.

1.2 For each tournament, these General Rules will be supplemented by “Specific Rules”> that set out additional terms and conditions that apply to that tournament. Matters covered by Specific Rules are identified further below. Specific Rules will be published close to the entry point for each tournament (usually underneath the “More info” button). If there is any inconsistency between these General Rules and any Specific Rules, the Specific Rules shall prevail (to the extent of any such inconsistency).

1.3 In addition to the General Rules and Specific Rules which apply to tournaments, we also recommend that you read and consider the following:

1.3.1 Our wider website Terms of Service (this applies to your visit to Casino.ca in general); and

1.3.2 Our Privacy Policy (this provides information on how we process your data).

In the event of any inconsistency between our Terms & Conditions and the General Rules or Specific Rules, the General Rules and Specific Rules shall prevail.

2. ELIGIBILITY

2.1 To participate in tournaments, you must first register an account with Casino.ca.

2.2 To open an account, you must satisfy all of the following eligibility conditions:

2.2.1 You must be at least: (i) 19 years old; or (ii) if higher, the legal gambling age applicable to your location.

2.2.2 You must not have another existing account (or have had a previous account closed for breach of these General Rules).

2.2.3 You must not be an employee of Casino.ca, a family member of an employee, or anyone else that is professionally connected with tournaments.

2.2.4 You must be located in one of the following Canadian provinces: Alberta, British Colombia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan. For the avoidance of doubt, persons located in Ontario and Quebec, or any country other than Canada, are not eligible for registration.

2.3 When opening an account, you agree that:

2.3.1 You will only open an account for yourself and not for any other person.

2.3.2 You will provide accurate registration details as verification checks will be carried out (see further below).

(a) Please note that if you are found to have entered incorrect registration details upon verification, we reserve the right to close the account, withhold any prizes won and/or disqualify all your tournament entries.

2.3.3 You will not select a username that is offensive, harmful, immoral or otherwise unreasonable.

2.3.4 Your username may be displayed in leaderboards and therefore you will not include personally identifiable information in your username if you do not wish to be identifiable by other participants.

2.4 Notwithstanding that we have designated certain eligibility criteria related to age and location under section 2.2.1 and 2.2.4 above, it is and remains your responsibility to understand the laws applicable to you and to comply with the same in relation to tournaments. By registering for, or participating in, tournaments, you confirm that you understand the laws applicable to you and you are aware of no law that would prohibit or limit your registration for and/or participation in tournaments.

2.5 Some tournaments may apply additional eligibility restrictions including (without limitation) in relation to your location. In such cases, we will either make any additional eligibility criteria clear in the Specific Rules or we will only display to you the tournaments you are eligible for. If you distort your location to enter a tournament that you are not eligible for, this will be considered a material breach of these General Rules and we will disqualify you from the tournament and may close your account.

2.6 If we discover that you have breached any of the rules set out in this Clause 2, we may (at our sole discretion) disqualify you from any tournaments you have entered, withhold any prizes won and/or close your account.

3. ENTRY CONDITIONS

3.1 No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Tournaments are free-to-enter and no purchase options are available - it is not possible to increase the number of entries or chances of winning by spending money.

3.2 To enter any tournament and be eligible to win any prizes on offer, for the duration of your entry you must:

3.2.1 hold an account and be logged in;

3.2.2 continue to satisfy all of the account registration conditions set out in clause 2.2(including, without limitation, being located in one of the provinces outlined in clause 2.2.4); and

3.2.3 meet any additional entry criteria and/or prize redemption rules that may apply (as set out in these General Rules and any Specific Rules).

3.3 Instructions on how to participate in each tournament will be set out on the homepage.

3.4 The time and date that each tournament is first open for entries (“Opening Time>”) and the time and date that tournament entries must be completed (“Closing Time”) will be outlined in the Specific Rules. You must fully complete your entry by the designated Closing Time for it to count.

3.4.1 We reserve the right in our absolute discretion to hold, void, suspend, cancel, extend or reschedule any tournament at any time and without notice.

3.5 You may not enter more times than indicated or otherwise gain an unfair advantage by using multiple accounts, identities, or devices. If you do so, we will disqualify you from the tournament, withhold any prizes won and / or close your account(s).

3.6 Any entries that are not completed in time or which do not meet all the entry criteria will be disqualified. Winners will be verified in accordance with clause 6.

4. WINNER SELECTION

4.1 The method of winner selection for each tournament will be set out in the Specific Rules. If no method is specified, rankings are based on the highest score.

4.2 Winning chances are dependent on the total number of valid entries.

4.3 In the event of a tie, the participant who completed their entry first will rank higher.

5. PRIZES

5.1 Prizes will be outlined in the Specific Rules for each tournament.

5.2 Due to local regulations, in order to be eligible for a prize, the winner must correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill question.

5.3 Unless stated otherwise, prizes will be awarded via our designated pay-out provider.

5.4 If you win a prize, we will contact you with further information on how to claim your prize. Generally, in order to claim your prize, you will be required to:

5.4.1 register on our pay-out platform (a separate pay-out website for Casino.ca that is operated by our pay-out provider);

5.4.2 pass such verification checks as reasonably required by our pay-out provider (including, without limitation, providing a copy of your identification documents); and

5.4.3 once verified, follow the instructions on the pay-out platform to withdraw your prize using one of the options available within 3 months of the prize being added to your balance on the pay-out platform.

5.5 We reserve the right to withhold any prize won until you pass such checks.

5.6 Your use of our pay-out platform is subject to additional terms and conditions and privacy notices which are disclosed to you on the pay-out platform. Please ensure you read these carefully as they will specify the terms that apply to your use of the pay-out platform and how the data you provide will be processed.

5.7 Certain withdrawal methods may incur transaction fees. We will cover transaction fees for standard bank transfers and any other withdrawal methods expressly confirmed as fee-free on the pay-out platform from time to time. If you select a withdrawal method that carries additional transaction fees (for example, a SWIFT transfer), those fees will be deducted from your prize amount. Any such additional fees are the sole responsibility of the winner and will not be reimbursed by us. It is your responsibility to check for applicable transaction fees before you process the withdrawal.

5.8 Please note that in the event you do not withdraw your prize from the pay-out platform within 3 months, a dormancy fee of $10.00 per month will apply and be automatically deducted from your balance on the pay-out platform until either your balance is withdrawn or your balance reaches $0.00. Dormancy fees are strictly non-refundable.

5.9 In the event you are unable to create an account on our pay-out platform or pass verification checks by our pay-out provider, you will be unable to claim your prize.

5.10 In our absolute discretion, we may decide to payout prizes in an alternative way – for example as a cash transfer or as a voucher or other equivalent form. You may required to register an account with a different reputable third party payment platform so that we can transmit cash winnings or voucher equivalents to you. In the event that you are unable to create an account on our designated third party payment platform or if our chosen method of payment is unavailable or non-redeemable in your location, then unfortunately you will not be eligible to claim your prize. Please note that there may be third party payment policies outside our control that affect the pay-out options available to you.

5.11 Any non-cash prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. In the event that the prize requires collection or involves attendance to a particular location, the prize does not include travel or other expenses unless expressly stated otherwise.

5.12 In the event of unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute any prize for an alternative of equal or greater value.

5.13 All income and other personal taxes and filings resulting from acceptance of a prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.

6. WINNER NOTIFICATION, VERIFICATION & PRIZE DELIVERY

6.1 The tournament winner(s) will ordinarily be contacted within seven (7) calendar days of the Closing Time, but there may be delays during holidays or during periods of Casino.ca staff absence. The winner will be required to respond to accept the prize and provide requested details and information (including any verification information and documentation requested under clause 6.2 below) within 7 calendar days of initial contact. If the winner does not respond within the timeframe, the prize will be forfeit.

6.2 We reserve the right to verify the eligibility of tournament participants including age, identity and location. Ordinarily, such verification checks will be carried out by our third-party pay-out provider, but we reserve the right to carry out these checks ourselves either instead of or addition to the checks by our pay-out provider. We, and our pay-out provider, may require such information and documents as we consider reasonably necessary for this purpose and a prize may be withheld unless and until we are satisfied with the verification. If these checks are unable to verify your age or location, or do not match up to the details you provided upon registration, we reserve the right to withhold any prizes won and close your account.

6.3 To enable the delivery of prizes, participants will be required to provide delivery details. For prizes delivered electronically, this will usually be your bank details (or other payment transfer details), but additional details may be required particularly in the case of physical prizes.

7. PUBLICITY

7.1 By participating in the tournament, you acknowledge and agree that we will publish your username on the tournament leaderboard.

7.2 If you are a winner of any tournament, you agree that we may use your information (including your username) to announce the winner of this tournament and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.

8. DISQUALIFICATION AND ACCOUNT CLOSURE

8.1 Our decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to any tournament.

8.2 We reserve the right to disqualify and close the account of any participant we reasonably believe is attempting to fraudulently enter, cheat, or compromise the system by any means. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these General Rules or any Specific Rules (to extent applicable), we may, at our sole discretion, disqualify you from any tournament, withhold any prizes won and/or close your account.

8.3 We may also close your account at any time for business and operational reasons. If you are not suspected of breaching any terms, any tournament entries and prizes won at the time of account closure will stand.

9. RELATIONSHIP WITH FREE GAME DEVELOPERS

9.1 Casino.ca is not affiliated with, sponsored by or otherwise associated with any of the developers of the slots and/or other free-to-play casino games which are featured on the website and in the tournaments. Any intellectual property rights relating to the third party brands featured on Casino.ca belong to their respective owner and Casino.ca does not claim that it owns or licenses any such intellectual property rights.

10. OUR LIABILITY

10.1 Nothing in this Clause 10 shall exclude or limit Casino.ca’s liability for any liability that cannot be limited or excluded as a matter of law.

10.2 Casino.ca, its owners, directors, officers, employees, agents or distributors will not, in any circumstances, be responsible or liable for any liability, damage, loss or injury suffered by any participant in entering a tournament or as a result of accepting or utilising any prize won.

10.3 Furthermore, we shall not be liable for any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond our reasonable control. This shall include, but not be limited to, a technical malfunction that improperly scores tournaments or enables entries that are not in accordance with these rules.

10.4 Our maximum liability to you in connection with tournaments, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or for breach of statutory duty or in any other way shall in no circumstances exceed the value of the prizes on offer for the tournament(s) in question.

10.5 Tournaments are provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that the tournaments will always be available or will be uninterrupted or error free.

11. DATA PROTECTION

11.1 You acknowledge that any information you provide Casino.ca either through registration, use of Casino.ca or in connection with tournaments will be processed in line with our Privacy Policy.

11.2 Personal information that you provide to our pay-out provider will be processed in line with their privacy policy which will be made available to you on our pay-out platform. Please note that our pay-out provider is located outside of Canada.

12. UPDATES

12.1 We may update these General Rules, and any Specific Rules, from time to time.

12.2 We will take reasonable steps to bring any material changes to your attention.

12.3 Continued use of your account after any changes have been made constitues acceptance of the revised rules.
